Club Meeting

Club meetings are currently held on the first Tuesday of every month, at the Pugsleys Library restaurant on Walnut Hill, just east of Hwy 35 in Dallas.  Email for info. 




Flying Sites

Note that some of these sites are private property, and some require specific club memberships for access. Most also require USHGA memberships for flight privleges. Please respect these rules, as they are vital to our continued access to these sites.






Dallas Levees

Training slopes along the Trinity River, in central Dallas. South, North, Southwest, Northeast sections. Averages about 40-50 feet high. Access at the Inwood or Mockingbird bridges.




Grayson County Airport

Tow site in Grayson county, northwest of Sherman.  We use an 8,000 foot abandoned runway, and a hangar just north of the tower.

Buffalo Mountain, OK

Closest mountain to DFW. South facing ridge, 1000 feet high. About 3-4 hours north in southeast Oklahoma, near the town of Talihena. Private land, leased by the Buffalo Mountain Flyers, who also lease the Panorama overlook launch on Talimena Drive.

Hearne, TX

Home of Austin Air Sports. Site of the 2000 Lone Star Championships. The 2001 Lone Star Championships will be the USHGA US Nationals. Aerotow and payout winch, great flatland soaring. Several world triangle speed records were set there in 2000.

Dry Canyon, Alamogordo, NM

Primo mountain site, maintained by the Rio Grande Soaring Association. Overlooks Alamogordo, 2400 feet vertical, 3 mile glide to the primary LZ. Annual Fly-in on Memorial Day and Columbus Day.
